Laser Dentistry

"Gummy smiles" are a common dental problem that can be the result of a variety of things, including heredity, state of health and even the use of many high blood pressure medications. A gummy smile has the tendency to take over the mouth, making the teeth seem smaller and barely noticeable in appearance. To correct this condition we use a laser to transform the look and shape of the gums. The process is highly effective in getting rid of unnecessary gum tissue and the result is a healthy looking, well proportioned smile. The process is quick and simple with no discomfort.

Orthodontics

Orthodontics is an area of dentistry that specializes in treating bite abnormalities and irregularities of the teeth using corrective devices such as braces. Orthodontic treatment can help to straighten teeth and align jaws while also, preventing certain dental problems such as tooth decay, gum disease, and bone destruction. The results of Orthodontic treatment are increased self- esteem, and a healthy, gorgeous smile!

Teeth Whitening

If you're looking to brighten your smile then teeth whitening may be the perfect solution! Teeth whitening, under the supervision of a highly trained cosmetic dentist is a safe and effective way to easily improve your smile. There are a variety of teeth whitening methods and Dr. Ziegele can help you decide which one is the most effective for you. In our practice, we are proud to offer one of the best whitening systems available, the Advanced Power Whitening Zoom! Zoom can brighten your teeth from seven to twelve shades whiter, giving you the gorgeous smile you've always dreamed of!

Porcelain Veneers

Porcelain veneers is one of the most popular cosmetic dentistry procedures today and an incredibly effective treatment option to correct many common dental problems at once. Veneers can fix dark or yellow teeth or tooth gaps; it can lengthen short or stubby teeth and straighten crooked teeth. The process involves removing a thin layer of enamel off the front of the tooth to allow the porcelain to bond properly, making it look as natural as possible. The veneers are attached to the teeth using the most advanced methods of bonding principles, offering a durable, lasting solution with an end result of a strong, natural-looking, beautiful smile.

Crowns

The most common types of crowns used today use a metal lining covered with porcelain. These types of crowns are not as natural looking because light is not able to pass through the material as it does with a natural tooth. Often the results of these types of crowns are a flat-looking tooth that can sometimes leave a gray mark next to the gum line.

We're proud to offer a life-like alternative: all-ceramic, non-metal crowns! With these newer restorations you're left with a natural-looking tooth and no dark gum line.

Bonding

A chipped, crooked or missing tooth can automatically diminish your smiles appearance and can affect your self-esteem. Bonding offers the perfect solution to these problems. Dental bonding utilizes a tooth-colored composite material to restore teeth back to their natural beauty. The composite material is bonded onto the tooth, then shaped, molded and polished until the desired results are achieved.

Dental Implants

Dental implants can dramatically improve the way people eat, speak, smile, and enjoy life. Dental implants are replacement teeth that are durably designed to look, feel, and function like natural teeth.

A person with dental implants can get back the ability to eat all the foods they love and smile with confidence again.

Implants are made of small titanium cylinders which are securely placed into the jawbone where teeth are missing. The titanium implant then fuses with the bone, creating a sturdy, long lasting artificial tooth (teeth).

In addition to filling in the gaps left by lost teeth, implants can also help prevent bone loss and gum recession.

Bridges

Missing teeth can cause both physical and emotional pain and discomfort. They can also lead to certain dental problems like gum disease, problems biting, loss of bone mass, and difficulties with speech. Thankfully, a bridge can provide a comfortable solution that can give you a healthy, beautiful smile. Simply put, a bridge is an artificial tooth (or teeth), that is custom-fit and permanently put in place of the missing tooth which is then secured by a porcelain crown.

Tooth Colored Fillings

If you've had your teeth filled with dark, gray metal fillings, you not only have to be concerned about your smiles appearance but you should also be aware of the serious dental problems these types of fillings can cause.

Metal amalgams can harm teeth. The metal is sensitive and enlarges when exposed to heat and shrinks when exposed to cold temperatures. This increase and decrease motion deteriorates the tooth wall which can cause it to fracture and also making it more susceptible to bacteria which can decay your teeth. Metal fillings also contain mercury which can cause negative long-term health effects. A safer method for filling teeth is a tooth colored compound filling. These types of fillings are more durable and because they are the color of your teeth, you can't even notice they're there. Tooth colored fillings strengthen your teeth and beautify your smile.

TMJ Treatment

"TMJ" stands for temporomandibular joint or more formally known as, the jaw joint. The TMJs are the tiny joints that connect the lower jaw to the skull. These joints are responsible for allowing your mouth to open and close and they're in charge of helping you chew, talk, and swallow. Some people suffer from TMJ conditions that are caused by pain in the muscles along with the inability to perform normal movements. Thankfully, neuromuscular dentistry can correct these conditions and alleviate pain.

Periodontics

Following the proper prevention methods can help you avoid unnecessary periodontal treatment. Going for regular cleanings and maintaining excellent hygiene habits are the best precautions to take to avoid gum disease.

Bacteria formation on the teeth is the main cause of periodontal disease and the source of bacteria is sticky plaque build up. Methods such as scaling, root planning, and local delivery of antimicrobials, can effectively treat and prevent the disease. In some cases, surgical treatment or cosmetic procedures may be required to correct the damage caused by gum disease. Dr Ziegele can asses your situation and offer the best treatment plan for you.

Endodontics

With the advances in technology combined with today's dental techniques, getting a root canal done is no longer a terrifying experience. Dr. Ziegele is an expert in performing root canal treatment. The causes of root canals can vary from extreme tooth decay, a dental accident, tooth fracture, or gum disease. These conditions can further lead to tooth pain or a dental abscess. Modern root canal therapy is highly effective in correcting these concerns.

Inlays and Onlays

Metal filings can cause cracking or become susceptible to bacteria which can lead to further decay. Onlays and inlays are an excellent solution to replace silver filings with gorgeous and healthy tooth-colored ones. We'll design the restorations to match your teeth, and bring them back to their natural strength, and purpose. With new materials such as pure porcelain, it is finally possible to beautifully repair and restore your smile.

Neuromuscular Dentistry

Neuromuscular dentistry is a branch of dentistry that extends far beyond traditional dentistry. It also focuses on the correlation between the body's range of movement and posture. We have the technology to observe the function of the muscles and set the teeth to a proper jaw position. In order for the doctor to correctly diagnosis and treat the condition it is first recommended that the patient have a complete examination and evaluation.

From there, the appropriate treatment plan can be developed to best suit the patients needs.

Before the first phase can begin, the most important step involves locating your neuromuscular jaw position. This is done to avoid muscular imbalances that could cause instability of the teeth, bone, and posture. When the teeth, facial muscles and temporomandibular joints no longer work collectively together, TMJ symptoms will arise.

Some common TMJ symptoms include:

-Headaches
-Neck/Shoulder aches
-Jaw pain
-Sensitive and sore teeth
-Teeth clenching
-Loose teeth
-Facial pain
-Warn down teeth
-Ear congestion
-Forward head posturing
-Clicking/popping in the joints
-Limited opening of the mouth
-Tingling in the fingertips

To restore the mouth to its complete normal functionality we must consider occlusion, as well as the muscles that help us chew, and the sustaining tissue structures of the temporomandibular joints. To achieve high quality neuromuscular dentistry, we use computerized electro-diagnostic technology to pin-point the cause of concern.

The instrument that is used to diagnose and treat TMJ is called J5. This is a computerized investigative tool which documents the location of the jaw and muscles and allows the doctor to successfully proceed with the appropriate course of treatment based on the information acquired.
